Paul
Galicco’s novel was filmed by Ronald Neame (Director) and Irwin Allen
(Producer).
I had watched
On The Waterfront movie from director Elia Kazan while studying cinema at
college. On The Waterfront is a story religionist intervention of employer
issues. A priest interferes to issue between employers and boss. Alan Deleon is
at lead role, do you remember?
When On The
Waterfront movie was made in 1954, all artists had to touch religions against
socialism. And a priest presents religionist salvation against employer-boss
fight. Strange.
The
Poseidon Adventure is a later movie (1972). It was made after 1960’s. Social opposition
is out in USA and Europe but singular freedom is in. Nietzsche is learnt,
Camus is read, Sartre is loved, everyone run to streets and squares.
Sermon, in
Poseidon ship, is in a crossroad when ship capsizes. He doesn’t yield to fate,
he tries victory again and again against dying in centre of sea. And he saves
people despite him dies. He challenges to god and fate when dying.
We see
agent of ship boss, when he says ‘faster, faster. Because we pay thousands of
dollars per day of travelling.”
Sermon
doesn’t pray for any victim who dies next to him. An old man loves and anterior
prostitute and he travel with her.
Poseidon
Adventure is a progressive movie. It has many awards and a good memorize in
minds. If you haven’t see it yet, watch asap.
